I recently began speaking to someone on match.com who is 42 and I am few years younger than her. It's just casual conversation at the moment but who knows for the future but it got me to thinking if we ever went on a date. I've always dated a women 3 - 4 years older then I am but never anyone who is 9, 10 years older then I am. I know age is just a number but I am curious if anyone has any thought or tidbits of wisdom they care to share ?
I know their are a lot of myths on dating older people, Some of the myths I have found to be very true and some myths that just lead to more questions. I am interested in what you folks have to say on this subject.

Well they say that women traditionally marry men who are at least 5 years their senior - more typically 8 - 11 years older. This was true for me. I was happy with that and would seek another man who is older then I for a relationship again. Now that being said - I would not completely discount a man up to 5 years younger then I - because he will still be over 30 and thats fine.
I don't think the age difference you are referring to is a big leap - and after all - if you can find love or chemistry with a woman that's the hard part, the age is academic really. Besides - they say when a woman is with a younger man it keeps her younger at heart - and really good sex keeps the fine lines away from her face - so GO FOR IT! 
There is too much else to worry about in the world and in relationships without worrying about a small age difference - its not like she is going to retire 25 years before you do - unlike some folks I know.

Age is only a number. Find someone you LIKE and go with it. I have dated plenty of beautiful women. Yes, physical attraction might draw you in but has little to do with overall chemistry. Beauty fades sometimes very quickly and then you are left with (insert personality traits here).

Nah ... nothing wrong with dating someone with this much age gap. If you have heard of cougars, this is what they do, and they are increasing in numbers these days. Women care more about making career, and so delay finding love and romance. Your woman might be one of those. Don't worry, go right ahead. Have fun!
